Aakriti Dahiya pips Olympian Anjum Moudgil for silver in 50m rifle 3 positions

Aakriti Dahiya won a silver in the women’s individual 50m rifle 3 positions event at the Asian Shooting Championships 2026 at the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range in New Delhi on Tuesday.

The 24-year-old shooter won silver with a total of 354.2 after the kneeling, prone and standing rounds. It was her first individual continental medal.

India’s Anjum Moudgil, a two-time Olympian, finished with a total of 340.4 for bronze. Kazakhstan’s 18-year-old Sofiya Shulzhenko won the gold medal with a world record score of 358.2.

Ashi Chouksey, who won a bronze medal at the Asian Games 2023 in the same shooting event, missed out on a podium after finishing fourth with a total of 330.9.

Earlier in the day, Moudgil, Chouksey and Dahiya combined for a total of 1756-86x in the qualifying round to help India earn a silver medal in the team event. Kazakhstan claimed gold with 1760-90x, while Japan secured bronze with 1730-69x.

India’s Vidarsa Vinod topped the qualifying round with 590-35x but was competing for Ranking Points Only (RPO).

Anjum Moudgil (587-30x) finished third in the qualifying round, Ashi Chouksey (586-32x) placed fifth and Aakriti Dahiya (583-24x) was seventh. Ayushi Podder scored 582-20x to end ninth (RPO).

Tuesday’s medal haul took India’s tally in senior events at the ongoing championships, which only features rifle and pistol events, up to 18 – eight gold, six silver and four bronze.
