Devika Sihag continued her inspired run in the Thailand Masters 2026 badminton tournament and advanced to the women’s singles final with yet another upset victory in Patumwan on Saturday.

Devika Sihag, 63rd in the women’s singles badminton rankings, defeated World No. 35 Huang Yu-Hsun of Chinese Taipei 22-20, 21-13 in the semiinals to qualify for her first-ever BWF World Tour summit clash.

The 20-year-old had previously finished runners up at the second Indonesia Masters 2025, but the BWF Super 100 tournament falls outside the World Tour ambit despite offering ranking points. She is also a three-time winner in the BWF International circuit.

Devika Sihag has been on a bit of a giant-killing spree at the ongoing BWF Super 300 tournament. After overcoming senior compatriot Ashmita Chaliha in the opening round, she knocked out world No. 42 Tung Ciou-Tong of Chinese Taipei in the pre-quarters.

Defeating World No. 16 and top seed Supanida Katethong of Thailand in the quarterfinals marked the biggest scalp of Devika’s fledgling career yet.

On Saturday, Devika matched the fifth-seeded Huang Yu-Hsun point-for-point. However, with the score reading seven-all, the Chinese Taipei player stepped up her game and eventually opened up a 20-15 lead.

Huang Yu-Hsun, who had knocked out both Tasnim Mir and Anmol Kharb out of the tournament, seemed primed to take the lead against Devika as well before the Indian youngster mounted a miraculous comeback.

Devika saved five game points before taking the lead herself against all odds.

The second game also began on even footing, with the two shuttlers tied at five-all. This time, however, it was the Indian badminton player who put her foot on the pedal and unlike her opponent, left no routes open for a fightback.

Devika Sihag will be up against Malaysia’s Goh Jin Wei, a two-time junior world champion, in Sunday’s final.
