Kabilan, Niranjanveer score centuries to help Tamil Nadu reach 448/7 against Hyderabad

Kabilan and D Niranjanveer struck contrasting centuries to help Tamil Nadu ran up an impressive 448 for seven against Hyderabad in the first round of the South Zone Inter-State Under-14 Boys’ Tournament in Vizianagaram on Tuesday.

Hyderabad skipper G Rakesh Sekhar won the toss and asked Tamil Nadu to bat first and, by the end of the day, the Hyderabad camp must have had second doubts on the decision.

Tamil Nadu batters ran the Hyderabad bowlers ragged as they piled on the runs, they scored 448 in 90 overs at almost five runs per over. Kabilan played the anchor role to perfection as he held one end up on way to 109. He faced 193 balls and struck 15 fours and a six.

On the other hand, Niranjanveer D toyed with the Hyderabad bowlers on way to 105 which came off just 80 balls and contained 10 boundaries and six over the fence. B Sanjay made 72 and Mohd Saafir (53) helped himself to a half-century.

For Hyderabad, V R Mithun took three for 26 and P Vivaan Reddy bagged two for 60.

Neelam century buries Hyderabad women

Neelam Bharadwaj scored a century to set up Uttarakhand’s 68-run win over Hyderabad in a practice match on Tuesday.

Batting first, Uttarakhand made 272 for seven with Neelam Bharadwaj scoring 125 off 134 balls with 12 fours and two sixes. She was ably supported by Kanchan Parihar, who scored 78.

In reply, Hyderabad could manage to reach 204 for nine with VM Kavya and E Darshini scoring half-centuries. Kavya remained unbeaten on 63 and Darshini made 54. S Yashasri contributed 32. Neelam Bisht took three for 34 for the winners.

Brief scores: Uttarakhand 272/7 in 50 overs (Neelam Bharadwaj 125, Kanchan Parihar 78) beat Hyderabad 204/9 in 50 overs (E Darshini 54, VM Kavya 63no, S Yashasri 32; Neelam Bisht 3/34).
