Hyderabad crashed to their second consecutive loss as they went down by eight wickets to Mumbai in the BCCI Senior women’s T20 Trophy at the MCA Ground 2 in Pune on Tuesday.

In another match, Andhra pulled off a heart-stopping two run win over Haryana to notch up their second consecutive win.

Batting first, Hyderabad women put up a shoddy display with the bat. The top three were among the runs but none of them stayed long enough to make it count and after their departure the others just caved in as Hyderabad were restricted to 114 for nine in 20 overs.

Pranavi’s knock goes in vain as Hyderabad lose to UP by 12 runs; Andhra win by 9 wickets

Gongadi Trish and skipper Pranavi Chandra got the side off to a good start with a 38-run partnership before Trisha fell in the sixth over. She made 20 off 16 balls with four boundaries.
Pranavi and G Kavyasree then added 25 to the total before the skipper was sent back by S Singh for a 27-ball 27 with four boundaries.

Hyderabad middle-order caves in meekly

Thereafter, Kavyasree lacked support from the other end as wickets tumbled at regular intervals. Kavyasree was the fifth wicket to fall at 90 after she made a topscore of 30 off 33 balls with four boundaries.

None of the other batters scored double figures. The middle order batters like Sandhya G (1), Vanka Pooja (4), K Niteesha (6) and M Mamatha (4) hardly made any difference to the score.

In reply, Mumbai did not encounter much of a problem in reaching the target. Opener Sanika Chalke made an unbeaten half-century to set up the victory as Mumbai reached 117 for two in 15.1 overs.

Sanika made 68 off 51 balls with seven fours and three sixes, while Sejal Raut scored a 24-ball 24 with two fours to bag full points from the game.

Andhra keep their nerve in a tight game

At the IS Bindra Cricket Stadium in Mohali, Andhra managed to deny Haryana a victory by just two runs in what turned out to be a thrilling encounter.

Batting first, Andhra made 156 for eight and then restricted Haryana to 154 for eight.

Opener Ranga Lakshmi continued from the previous game as she stroked a half-century. Though Andhra lost N Anusha (7) in the fifth over, Ranga Lakshmi was at her attacking best and ensured a healthy start for Andhra. She made 61 off just 38 balls with nine fours and three sixes. She fell at the score reading 75 and 61 came off her blade.

Pushpa Latha made 33 off 26 balls with five fours and E Padmaja got 22 off 19 balls with three fours as Andhra reached 156 for eight.

In reply, Haryana lost a few early wickets but Tanisha Ohlan held the innings together with a 29-ball 34. However, Andhra kept pegging away at regular intervals to prevent Haryana from asserting their dominance.

Triveni Vasistha (21) and Amandeep Kaur (20) kept the fight till the end but they were not able to take their side over the ropes.

Brief scores: Hyderabad 114/9 in 20 overs (G Kavyasree 30, G Trisha 20, Pranavi Chandra 29; Soumya Singh 2/28, Nidhi Gharat 2/14) lost to Mumbai 117/2 in 15.1 overs (Sanika Chalke 68no).

Andhra 156 for eight in 20 overs (Ranga Lakshmi 61, Pusha Latha 33, E Padmaja 22, Anjali Saravani 13 not out; Amandeep Kaur 3/35, Preeti Bose 2/16) beat Haryana 154 for eight in 20 overs (Tanisha Ohlan 34, Triveni Vasistha 21, Amandeep Kkaur 20; B Anusha 2/24, Devika K 2/32, Akhila Pavani 2/22).
