Hyderabad down Assam by 18 runs via VJD Method, Uttarakhand too good for Andhra

Hyderabad Under-19 women scored an 18-run victory via the VJD Method over Assam in the BCCI Women’s Under-19 T20 Trophy at the KCA Cricket Ground in Mangalapuram, Thiruvananthapuram, on Friday.

Hyderabad could manage to post 121 for nine and then restricted Assam to 64 for five to take full points from the game.

Batting first, Hyderabad began on a poor note as they lost opener Katta Tejaswini (2) with 16 on the board. Fellow opener Gugulothu Kavyasree shouldered the early burden with a 26-ball 27 which contained two fours. Kavyasree added 17 off 20 balls for the second wicket with Kammili Nidhi (12 off 15 balls) and 19 off 22 balls for the third wicket with M Charvi (6 off 12 balls).

After Kavyasree’s departure, Prathika Kancharla took charge of the proceedings. Prathika first added 11 off 7 balls with V Pratiksha (15 off 8 balls) and then added 19 off 19 balls for the seventh wicket with Sree  Grandha (3 off 6 balls) and 28 off 25 balls with E Darshini for the eighth wicket before falling for a 29-ball 34 which contained five fours. Darshini made 12 off 13 balls.

Kaku Barman took three for 24 and Reshmi Sinha bagged two for 14.

In reply, Assam girls tried to put up a fight with Gritrickha Saikia mounting the pressure. The opener hit 22 off 16 balls with three fours and a six. But K Tejaswani bagged to wickets to put Assam on the backfoot. Assam were restricted to 64 for five with Payunidhi Das not out on 15.

Brief scores: Hyderabad 121/9 in 20 overs (Pratika K 34, G Kavyasree 27; Kaku Barman 3/24, Reshmi Sinha 2/14) beat Assam 64/5 in 15 overs (Gritrickha Saikia 22; K Tejaswani 2/8). Won by 18 runs VJD Method.

Uttarakhand score six-wicket win over Andhra

Andhra suffered a six-wicket loss to Uttarakhand at the Sachin Tendulkar Gymkhana in Kandivali, Mumbai.

Batting first Andhra women managed to post a modest 138 for seven with Vadde Akshaya making a topscore of 33.

Andhra began well with openers Nakka Samantha (11) and Deeksha Katragadda adding 31 for the first wicket. Deeksha then added 21 for the second wicket with V Sethu Sai (19) before falling for 24 off 28 balls with two fours and a six.

Sethu Sai and Greeshma Saini (13) then took the score to

74 before Greeshma fell. Andhra wobbled a bit thereafter as they lost Pushpitha Gowda and Sethu Sai to be left at 85 for six in the 15th over.

However, Vidya Sree (16) and Akshaya strung a 50-run partnership for the sixth wicket to lend some respectability to the score. The 50 came off just 32 balls with Akshaya contributing 32 and Sree making 16.

Uttarakhand openers Dhriti Anand and Kareena put the issue beyond Andhra’s reach as they strung a 90-run stand for the first wicket off 73 balls before Kareena fell for 39 off 36 balls with six fours and a six.

Anand and K Negi then added 21 for the second wicket before Uttarakhand lost three wickets but they were already on solid ground to be shaken. Dhriti became Rishika Palnati’s first wicket after making 62 off 49 balls with nine fours and a six.

Rishika took two more wickets but it was too late in the day to alter the result. She finished with three for 27.

Brief scores: Andhra 138 for six in 20 overs (Vadde Akshaya 33, Deeksha Katragadda 24; Dhara 2/29) lost to Uttarakhand 139 for four in 18 overs (Dhriti Anand 62, Kareena 39, Tanvi Tomar 16; Rishika Palnati 3/27).

Haryana down Bengal, Delhi and J&K cruise to victories

In Hyderabad, Delhi, Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir posted comfortable victories.

Delhi had no issue in negotiating the Saurashtra challenge as they carved out a 33-run win. Batting first, Delhi made 157 for four thanks to unbeaten knocks by Purva Siwach (44) and Samaira Raghav (42). In reply, Saurashtra were restricted to 124 for seven as Purva Siwach took three for 23.

Jammu & Kashmir cruised to a six-wicket win over Pondicherry in a low-scoring game. After bowling out Pondicherry for 88, Jammu & Kashmir girls struggled a wee bit before making 90 for four.

Haryana managed to down Bengal by 12 runs in a closely fought game. Haryana made 155 for four with Ritika Sharma making a topscore of 42. Bengal could reach 143 for seven despite Ispital Mondal making 58. Nitya Malik took three for 18 for Haryana.

Brief scores: Pondicherry 88 in 17.1 overs lost to Jammu & Kashmir 90/4 in 14.4 overs.

Delhi 157/4 in 20 overs (Purva Siwach 44no, Samaira Raghav 42no) beat Saurashtra 124/7 in 20 overs (Deetya Singhvi 43, Purva Siwach 3/23).

Haryana 155/4 in 20 overs (Pari Tanwar 39, Ritika Sharma 42, Kanak Bhati 32no) beat Bengal 143/7 in 20 overs (Ispital Mondal 58, Nitya Malik 3/18).
