Nakshatra, Teertha get 4 goals each, Sanvitha scores 3 as Telangana rout Pondicherry 17-0

Nakshatra and Teertha struck four goals apiece and Sanvitha scored a hat-trick as Telangana girls created history with a thumping 17-0 win over Pondicherry in the Junior Girls National Football Championship 2026-27 at the Ramakrishna Mission Ashram ground in Narainpur, Chhattisgarh, on Sunday.

It is for the first time that Telangana scored 17 goals in a match in the history of the Junior Girls National Football Championship. S Laxmi, Yashitha and Komali too contributed two goals each in the rout.

Yashitha opened the scoring in the 11^th minute and a minute later Komali made it 2-0 in favour of Telangana. The forwards were all over the Pondicherry territory and harassed the rival defence. It proved a tough task for the Pondicherry defence to withstand the sustained assault.

Sanvitha then got her first goal in the 15^th minute and added one more to her tally in the 19^th minute of play. Komali made it 5-0 in the 26^th minute before S Laxmi struck her first goal in the 30^th minute.

Laxmi completed her brace in the 44^th minute as Telangana went into the break with a healthy 7-0 margin. But this was just a preview of the storm that was to be unleashed after the break.

Upon resumption, the Telangana girls unleashed their full power on the hapless Pondicherry girls. Nakshatra began the onslaught with a strike in the 55^th minute to record her first goal of the day. Four minutes later, Teertha got her first goal as she made it 9-0 for Telangana.

Teertha struck two more goals in quick succession as Telangana ran up a 11-0 margin. Teertha scored in the 61^st and 63^rd minutes. Nakshatra then made it 12-0 in the 70^th minute and Teertha got her fourth goal in the 72^nd minute as the Pondicherry girls gave up the fight.

Yashitha made it 14-0 with a strike in the 74^th minute and Sanvitha completed her hat-trick in the 78^th minute of play. Nakshatra then completed her quota of goals with a double strike in the last 10 minutes of the game. She scored in the 82^nd and 89^th minutes as Telangana girls completed the annihilation of Pondicherry in style.

Teertha helps Telangana hold strong Goa to 1-1 draw

In an earlier match, Telangana had eked out a hard-fought 1-1 draw over strong Goa. In a closely contest battle which was played under heavy rain, Telangana girls had put up a gritty fight to held Goa to a draw and share points.

Teertha had scored the all-important goal which secured a draw for Telangana.
