Aneesh Karthik missed out on a century but his knock was worth its weight in gold as Medjee Junior College (Secunderabad) scored an 85-run win over St Andrews High School (Bowenpally) to emerge champions in the HCA’s Under-16 boys’ inter-school & college knock-out tournament at the Ekalavya Cricket Ground in Hyderabad on Tuesday.
Batting first, Medjee lost opener Riteesh Reddy G (16) with 27 on the board. But Siddhardha Chebrolu and skipper Aneesh Karthik staged a mini recovery with a 42-run partnership for the second wicket before Siddhardha fell.
Aneesh then combined forces with Daravath Arjun (25) and added 51 for the third wicket but the best partnership of the innings was between Aneesh and V Anirudh Naik.
The duo added102 off 68 balls with Anirudh Naik scoring 55 off 39 balls with nine fours and two sixes before falling.

Eight runs later, Aneesh too departed after making 95 off 87 balls with 14 fours. Medjee managed to post 313 for nine in their 50 overs.
In reply, St Andrews lost wickets at regular intervals as the batters failed to forge meaningful partnerships. Virat Kasyap top scored with 61 off 103 balls with four boundaries as St Andrews reached 228 for nine.

Bengal U-23 rout Hyderabad U-23
Bengal Under-23 continued with their winning ways as they scored a 87-run win over Hyderabad Under-23 on Tuesday.
Batting first, Bengal made a modest 159 for seven in their 20 overs with Sayan Paul scoring an unbeaten 63. VM Dhanush took four for 14 for the hosts. In reply, Hyderabad were bundled out for a lowly 72.

G Trisha hit an unbeaten half-century to set up Team F’s 37-run win over Team G in the Senior Women’s T20 selection matches.
Trisha made an unbeaten 71 and T Sarayu made 40 not out as Team F scored 148 for four. In reply, Team G were restricted to 111 for six with D Pranjal making 41.
Y Trisha Poojith hit an unbeaten 51 to power Team D to an eight-wicket win over Team C. Pranavi Chandra V made 51 for the losers.
Sandhya Gora scored 50 and Sri Bilvika made 52 as Team C defeated Team A by eight wickets.
