Hyderabad Polo & Riding Club to host 2nd edition of HPRC Equestrian Challenge

The Hyderabad Polo & Riding Club (HPRC) will host the second edition of the HPRC Equestrian Challenge from August 14 to 16, 2026 at the Club’s grounds in Gandipet, Hyderabad, building on the momentum of the inaugural edition held in May this year.

The Equestrian Challenge is HPRC’s flagship open competition, bringing together riders of every age and experience level across three disciplines, Hacks, Dressage, and Show Jumping. This edition features 15 classes in all, spanning age categories from Children II through to Open, and includes a dedicated 40 cm Show Jumping class designed specifically to welcome beginner and younger competitors into the sport.

Competitive Show Jumping riders in the Open category will contest for cash prizes of up to ₹20,000, awarded across the 80 cm, 90 cm, and 105–110 cm classes, provided a minimum of six riders compete in each. Age-category classes across all three disciplines will be recognised with medals and certificates.

The Equestrian Challenge follows directly on from the National Qualifier (NQ) 2026, which HPRC is underway. It is the first NQ of the season anywhere in the country. Together, the two events give Hyderabad’s equestrian community five consecutive days of competitive action at HPRC, drawing riders and horses from clubs across the region.

“The Equestrian Challenge has grown quickly into one of the highlights of our calendar,” said Mr. Chaitania Kumar, President, HPRC. “What we’re most proud of is how accessible this edition is — the 40 cm class means a child on their first competitive round and a seasoned Open rider chasing prize money are both on our grounds the same weekend. That range is exactly what we set out to build when we launched the first edition in May, and we’re glad to see it back, bigger, so soon after.”

Schedule

Friday, August 14 (5 pm): Practice (Clear) Round, 80–90 cm, Main Arena.

Saturday, August 15 (7 am): Flag Hoisting; 7:30 am: Hacks & Dressage, Ground 1; 4 pm: Show Jumping (40 cm, 105–110 cm Two-phase), Main Arena; 7 pm: Prize ceremony.

Sunday, August 16 (7 am): Show Jumping (60 cm), Main Arena; 4 pm: Show Jumping (80 cm, 90 cm), Main Arena; 7 pm : Closing prize ceremony.
