HCA invites applications for head curator post

The Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals for the position of head curator – HCA. This is a full-time position and the selected candidate will be responsible for the overall preparation and maintenance of cricket pitches and grounds across all HCA related facilities, says a notification dated August 8, 2026, issued by the HCA on its website.

The head curator will report to the head of Cricketing Operations, HCA. He will be stationed at Hyderabad in Telangana but will also travel to district grounds as and when required.

Role & responsibilities of head coach

The head curator will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following: Preparation and maintenance of all cricket pitches – match pitches and practice pitches – across all HCA related grounds. Overseeing pitch preparation for all HCA-organised matches including International matches, IPL matches, state matches, league matches, super league, state-level practice matches etc.

The head coach will have to submit weekly report to the chief curator/mentor with a copy to head of Cricket Operations, HCA. He will manage and upkeep the outfields, practice facilities, and ground infrastructure. His job is to supervise, train and mentor assistant curators and ground staff at all HCA facilities

He will also be responsible for procurement and management of all ground maintenance equipment, tools, soil, fertilizers, and related consumables. He has to coordinate with match officials on pitch-related matters ahead of and during tournaments and maintain detailed records of pitch conditions, preparation timelines, soil treatments, equipment and post-match assessments.

The head coach will also extend support and supervision to district grounds and academies under HCA’s District Academies Development Plan. He has to ensure compliance with BCCI guidelines and standards on pitch preparation and ground maintenance

All of the above responsibilities will be under the supervision of the chief curator/mentor. The above are the broad level responsibilities and the detailed responsibilities will be given once the Head of Curator is onboarded, says the notification.

Eligibility for post of head curator

The candidate has to possess a BCCI Level 1 or Level 2 Curator Certification and should be below 60 years of age as on July 10, 2027. He should also have a strong knowledge of soil science, turf management, pitch construction, and drainage systems and thorough understanding of pitch behaviour across different match formats – First-Class, One Day, and T20. He should possess the ability to prepare pitches that produce sporting results across all formats.

He should have a sound knowledge of BCCI pitch regulations and ICC pitch standards and ability to work independently as well as lead and coordinate a team. He has to have good communication skills – written and verbal and be physically fit and capable of working outdoors across varying weather conditions.
