Nalgonda District take the Super Over route to squeeze into HCA’s B Division T20 final

Nalgonda District prevailed over Ensconse in the semifinals of the HCA B Division T20 Knock-out Tournament in Hyderabad on Monday.

Batting first, Nalgonda District made a modest 139 in their 20 overs with DS Keerthan Praise scoring 60. Atul Vyas and Syed Ghazi Abbas took three wickets apiece to restrict Nalgonda.

Ensconse, in reply, were restricted to 139 for seven despite Deepak Nayak making 42 and Syed Ghazi Abbas remaining not out on 30. Ravinder took three for 43.

With the scores tied, the game went to the Super Over to decide the winner. In the Super Over, Enconse made six for two and Nalgonda replied with seven for one with a ball to spare.

Brief scores: Nalgonda District 139 in 20 overs (DS Keerthan Praise 60, Atul Vyas 3/23, Syed Ghazi Abbas 3/14) tied with Ensconse 139/7 in 20 overs (Deepak Nayak 42, Syed Ghazi Abbas 30no, Ravinder 3/43). Super Over: Ensconse 6/2 in 1 over lost to Nalgonda District 7/1 in 0.5 overs.

Pratheek stars in Nizamabad victory, David’s heroics go in vain for Mahbubnagar

M Sai Pratheek scored a half-century and took three wickets to help Nizamabad post a 29-run win over Warangal in the Kaka Venkataswamy Memorial Telangana Inter-District T20 League at Godavarikhani on Monday.

Batting first, Nizamabad made 170 for seven with Pratheek getting 65 of those. In reply, Warangal were restricted to 141 for nine as Prateek took three for 18.

In another match, David’s all-round show went in vain as Ranga Reddy scored a three-wicket win over Mahbubnagar.

David scored 82 and Abdul Rafeay made 56 as Mahbubnagar scored 209 for three. Ranga Reddy ran down that score in 19.1 overs and lost seven wickets in the process. David took two for36.

Brief scores: Nizamabad 170/7 in 20 overs (Harshavardhan Singh 39, Vikram Yadav 32, M Sai Pratheek 65, Syed Riyaz 2/35) beat Warangal 141/9 in 20 overs (Aashlesh 25, Aarush 43, Vedhari 2/18, Rayaan 2/25, M Sai Prateek 3/18). Mahbubnagar 209/3 in 20 overs (Abdul Rafeay 56, David 82, Rakesh 39) lost to Ranga Reddy 212/7 in 19.1 overs (Sathvik 54, Vaishnav 60, Venkat Chandra 2/47, David 2/36, Shadab 2/14).

Lokesh present Rs 30.35 lakh cheque to athlete Jyothi

Andhra Pradesh IT and Education minister Nara Lokesh presents athlete Jyothi Yarraji with a cheque for Rs 30.35 lakh in Undavalli on Monday.

Star athlete and Arjuna Award recipient Jyothi Yarraji, who recently won a gold medal at the Asian Athletics Championships held in Gumi, South Korea, met with Andhra Pradesh IT minister Nara Lokesh at his residence in Undavalli. The Visakhapatnam athlete was accompanied by her family members. Lokesh congratulated Jyothi for winning the gold medal and setting a new championship record. He praised her for enhancing India’s prestige on the international stage.

He assured her that the state would provide all necessary support so that she could aim for a medal in the Olympic Games. He said that she has reached this level through sheer determination and perseverance, and assured her that the entire country would stand by her in the future.

Lokesh presented Jyothi with financial assistance of Rs 30.35 lakh towards her preparation for the upcoming Asian Games and Commonwealth Games. SAP chairman Animini Ravinaidu was also present.
