To bolster the faltering Vijay Hazare Trophy campaign, the Hyderabad senior selection committee on Sunday named all-rounder C V Milind as skipper in place of G Rahul Singh. Hyderabad had lost both their games in the tournament, which is being played in Rajkot.
Milind had suffered a groin muscle pull during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and was undergoing rehab. Hence, he was not selected for the first two games. With the team putting up a poor show in their first two games, the selectors had to rethink their strategy. They dropped Kartikeya Kak and brought Milind into the squad.
Rahul Singh will be the vice-captain in place of Rahul Buddhi. Kak had played both the games and though he went wicketless against Uttar Pradesh, he took three for 87 against Vidarbha. He is the only Hyderabad bowler to have three wickets to his credit in the tournament thus far.
The squad; C V Milind (captain), G Rahul Singh (VC), Rahul Buddhi, Tanmay Agarwal, Tanay Thyagarajan, P Aman Rao, M Abhirath Reddy, K Nitesh Reddy, A Varun Goud, M Sai Pragnay Reddy (WK), A Prateek Reddy (WK), N Nitin Sai Yadav, C Rakshann Readdi, B Punnaiah, Md Arfaz.
