Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will take on Delhi Capitals at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday in their upcoming TATA IPL 2026 fixture, where they will also don their iconic green jerseys as part of the franchise’s ‘Green Initiative’. The side comes into the contest on the back of strong performances with eight points, looking to build further momentum as the tournament progresses and establish their stronghold in the table.
Josh Hazlewood heads into the game following a Player of the Match performance in the previous outing against Lucknow Super Giants, where he delivered an economical spell of one for 20 in his four overs.
“It’s been really pleasing to be back and contributing again. You learn a lot from time away due to injury, especially about respecting the recovery process. The focus has been on coming back fully ready and performing at this level,” Josh said.
Reflecting on skipper Rajat Patidar’s leadership, Hazlewood praised his growth and composure on the field: “He’s learning quickly and getting more confident as a captain. He’s calm out there and manages his resources well, which is great for the team,” he said.
In the previous match Virat Kohli was playing as an impact player for the first time in his career, speaking about Kohli’s role in the next game, Josh said: “He’ll definitely play, it’s just about how much he can contribute in the field. He brings great energy and is one of our best fielders, so we’d love to have him fully out there. Knowing him, he’s not one to sit back, he always wants to be involved and make an impact.”
Speaking about how the recovery process was after a long injury layoff, the Australian pacer said: “It’s been really pleasing to be back and contributing again. You learn a lot from time away due to injury, especially about respecting the recovery process, and the focus was on coming back fully ready and performing at this level”
My strength is hitting that hard length consistently: Josh
Josh emphasised the importance of sticking to his strengths in the shortest format. “My strength is hitting that hard length consistently and making it difficult for batters to score. In T20 cricket, it’s about executing that under pressure and adapting when needed”
Reflecting on the evolving nature of the format, he remarked: “With the way T20 cricket is going, the expectations on batters are very high. If you can build a few quiet deliveries, the pressure can shift quickly and create opportunities.”
Speaking about the well-rounded bowling unit featuring a mix of experience and variety, he said: “We’ve got a really balanced attack, with everyone bringing something different. It’s great to learn from each other, and that’s been a big strength for us as a unit.”
With confidence building within the squad, RCB will look to carry forward their momentum against Delhi Capitals.
