Legendary tennis player Venus Williams married Andrea Preti over a five-day long celebration. The seven-time Grand Slam singles champion tied the knot with Danish-born Italian actor and model Preti in Palm Beach, Florida.
Venus shared the news on her social media accounts. Venus had become the second oldest woman to win a tour-level singles match in July. The 45-year-old Venus had thanked her fiancé, who was sitting in the stands at the DC Open.
Williams hadn’t played in a tournament in 16 months until entering the event in Washington. She plans to play in a 33rd straight season on the WTA Tour, starting in Auckland in January.
Venus and 37-year-old Preti first crossed paths in 2024, with their relationship developing quietly away from public attention.
After confirming their engagement earlier this year, the couple initially exchanged vows in an intimate ceremony in Ischia, Italy, in September 2025.
Due to delays with international documentation, that ceremony could not be formally recognised, prompting an additional official celebration in Florida with family and close friends present.
Palm Beach became the setting for a series of intimate gatherings, including a courthouse wedding on December 19, followed by a joyful reception that blended elegance with warmth.
Her sister Serena Williams shared a series a pictures along with a heart-warming message. “My sister’s keeper. Venus, where do I even begin? From the backyard courts to the biggest stages in the world, you’ve always led with grace, strength, and a heart bigger than any trophy. Watching you step into this next chapter surrounded by love felt like watching the sun rise…steady, powerful, and full of promise.
“You’ve been my built-in best friend, my protector, my teacher, and my reminder to always walk in purpose. Seeing you this happy, this loved, this radiant… it means everything to me.
“To love, to partnership, to laughter, and to a lifetime of choosing each other every single day. I couldn’t be prouder to stand beside you, not just today, but always,” Serena wrote.
Venus was ranked as the World No.1 in women’s singles by the WTA for 11 weeks, and as the World No.1 in women’s doubles for eight weeks. Williams has won 49 WTA Tour-level singles titles, including seven Majors (five at Wimbledon and two at the US Open), as well as a gold medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. She has also won 22 doubles titles, including 14 majors and three Olympic gold medals.
The Williams sisters are credited with ushering in a new era of power and athleticism on the women’s professional tennis tour. Venus was twice the season prize money leader in 2001 and 2017 and ranks fourth in all-time career prize money winnings, having earned over $42 million as of November 2025.
