Yavuputra Tigers trounce Porus Panthers 7-4 in FNCC-Pullela Gopichand badminton

Yavuputra Tigers routed Porus Panthers 7-4 in the FNCC-Pullela Gopichand Badminton League 2026 at the Film Nagar Cultural Center (FNCC) in Hyderabad on Sunday evening.

Yavuputra Tigers shuttlers brooked no challenge as they toyed with their rivals. It was only in the women’s singles that the Tigers suffered a setback. Otherwise, it proved a walk in the park for the Tigers.

Avani Govind defeated Hamsini Chadaram in a thrilling contest which went to the wire. Avani lost the first game at 13-15 but pulled up her socks in time. She edged past Hamsini in the next two grimly fought games with an identical score. She took the games at 15-13, 15-13.

Yavuputra Tigers’ Shourya had an easy outing against Porus Panthers’ Sai Vasan as he won 15-8, 15-13

In the second singles of the Junior women’s tie, Porus Panthers’ Aadhya defeated Aaradhya 15-14, 15-5 to level the tie.

The women proved to the strong point of the Porus Panters as both their shuttlers won their matches. Llisha defeated K Navya in another thrilling encounter. Llisha lost the first game narrowly 14-15 but came back strongly in the next one. She took it 15-10 to force the match into the decider. In the final game, Llisha won 15-13.

Prasana Bonam too had a battle on hand against K Sershra Reddy. Prasana won the first game 15-13 but suffered a loss in the next one. In the decider, she edged out Sershra 15-14.

In the junior men’s singles, Linesh made short work of Satwik as he romped to a 15-12, 15-12 victory.

Porus Panthors, riding on doubles’ success, edge out FNCC Lions 6-5 in a thriller

In the men’s singles, Shourya had an easy outing against Sai Vasan. He won the first game at 15-8 but encountered a stiff fight from Vasan in the second game. Shourya, however, managed to prevail 15-13.

Tarun Manepally, on the other hand, took three games to get past a fighting Shankar Muttuswami. Tarun lost the first game at 8-15 but fought back valiantly. He won the next one at 15-13 and then managed to keep his nose ahead of his rival in the decider, which he won 15-14.

The only set back for Yavuputra Tigers in the men’s singles came when Lokesh Reddy went down to G Pranav Rao 8-15, 6-15.

Yavuputra Tigers clinch doubles ties

The doubles contests went to Yavuputra Tigers. In the women’s doubles, Anjana and Aradhana edged out a fighting Ananya and Srinidhi in three games. The Tigers won the first game at 15-14 but lost the next one to the Panthers at 13-15. However, the took the decider at 15-13.

In the mixed doubles, Anjana paired with Yogansh to beat Charan and Ananya 15-11,15-6. In the men’s doubles, Ruban and Mithelesh overcame Niranjan and Satwik in three games. They won 15-14, 11-15, 15-12.

Result: Yavuputra Tigers beat Porus Panthers 7-4

Junior women’s singles: Avani Govind beat Hamsini Chadaram 13-15, 15-13, 15-13; Aaradhya lost to Aadhya 14-15, 5-15.

Women’s singles: Llisha beat K Navya 14-15, 15-10, 15-13; K Sershra Reddy lost to Prasana Bonam 13-15, 15-10, 14-15.

Junior men’s singles: Linesh beat Satwik 15-12, 15-12.

Men’s singles: Shourya beat Sai Vasan 15-8, 15-13; Tarun Manepalli beat Shankar Muttuswami 8-15, 15-13, 15-14; Lokesh Reddy lost to G Pranav Rao 8-15, 6-15.

Women’s doubles: Anjana / Aradhana beat Ananya / Srinidhi 15-14, 13-15, 15-13.

Mixed doubles: Yogansh / Anjana beat Charan /Ananya 15-11, 15-6.

Men’s doubles: Ruban / Mithelesh beat Niranjan / Satwik 15-14, 11-15, 15-12.
