India’s Under-19 girls extended their unbeaten run with a series of commanding performances in the regional qualifiers for the ITTF-ATTU Asian Youth Table Tennis Championships at the Indira Gandhi Rajya Khel Parisar in Shimla on Thursday.
India claimed three of the four team titles, Under-19 Girls, Under-15 Boys, and Under-15 Girls, underlining the country’s strength and depth at the junior level. The only title to elude the hosts came in the Under-19 Boys category, where Bangladesh finished on top in a closely fought contest. India did not field a team in this section, having already secured qualification during last year’s Asian Championships in Tashkent.
The hosts registered clinical 3-0 victories over Nepal, Maldives, and Bangladesh on Thursday, finishing comfortably at the top of the round-robin standings. Yesterday, the hosts beat Sri Lanka by a similar margin.

With four wins from as many ties, India not only retained the gold medal in the category but also qualified as the top-ranked team for the continental championships. Sri Lanka, finishing second, claimed the other qualification spot from the region.
In the Under-19 Boys section, Bangladesh emerged as the top team following a tightly contested league phase. Although India had already secured qualification earlier, the battle for the top position went down to the final round. Though Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Nepal logged identical records of two wins and one loss each, Bangladesh clinched the gold medal on a superior average, leaving Sri Lanka with the silver and Nepal and the Maldives with the bronze.
India’s dominance was most evident in the Under-15 categories, where both the boys’ and girls’ teams delivered authoritative performances to secure top honours. The boys remained unbeaten with emphatic 3-0 wins over Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh, while the girls mirrored that feat with identical scorelines against the same opponents. Across both sections, the Indian paddlers were in complete control, rarely dropping games and consistently dictating the tempo of play.
The singles and doubles events across the sections begin on Friday.
