Around 150 women sportspersons participated in the ‘Workshop on Give to Gain: Empowering Women and Girls through Physical Activity and Active Living’ which was held at the School of Education, Osmania University, on Monday.
The aim of the workshop was to highlight the role of physical activity and active lifestyles in promoting the health, wellbeing, and empowerment of women and girls, while bringing together academics, educators, and practitioners to exchange perspectives on this important theme.
International and national sportspersons were felicitated on this occasion.
The workshop was organized by the International Federation of Physical Education, Fitness and Sports Science Association, India.
Dr Usha Sujit Nair, vice president of IAPESGW, former officiating vice chancellor, National Sports University, Manipur, was the keynote speaker. Prof L B Laxmikanth Rathod, member, Telangana Public Service Commission, Dr C Veerender, eminent psychologist, Dr Y Emmanuel S Kumar, chairman, IFCSS, Prof B Sunil Kumar, principal, UCPE, N Ramesh, Dronacharya Awardee and athletics coach, Dr M V L Surya Kumari, head, Dept of Physical Education, GNITS, Shaikpet, spoke at the workshop.
